DISCLAIMER
The rules and regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall
result from publications of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury, or death to a participant, spectator or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration or specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the  discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

Any part of the car not specifically mentioned or covered in these rules must remain stock. Stock parts are those found in the OEM Parts book.

All engine, chassis and equipment changes or modifications must be submitted to the Speedway for approval or rejection. No engine, chassis and other equipment will be considered as approved by passing through inspection unobserved. The management reserves the right to all final decisions on the interpretation of any rule or rules.

1. BODY STYLE
(a) Any North American approved body – aluminum, fiberglass or plastic. Asphalt racing bodies allowed.

(b) No Jeeps, station wagons or convertibles.

2. BODY APPEARANCE
(a) Racecars participating must be presentable in appearance at the beginning of each race event.

(b) Body must be stock appearing.

(c) Rear of body must be completely sealed including coverings for tail light assembly.

(d) Exterior body materials permitted may be aluminum, fiberglass and plastic. When using a fiberglass roof, you must install a window net or sheet metal (min. 20 gauge) below the roof in the driver compartment area.

(e) Wheel opening flares cannot extend past scrub rails. Wheels must not extend outside of body or scrub rails. No carbon fibre body parts allowed.

(f) Absolutely no bars shall extend outside of any body panel including the grille and bumper, with the exception of side scrub rails. Scrub rails cannot extend any further forward than rear of front wheel opening, and not further rearward than front of rear wheel opening. (No sharp edges). Maximum 1” x 2” welded or bolted to the roll cage. When bolting on scrub rails, you
must use carriage bolts or round-headed bolts. If hex head bolts are used, they must be counter sunk with a maximum 1” hole size. Must be mounted at or above front and rear wheel centerline.

(g) Grille must be stock production for body used or suitable replacement. Grille and headlights must be stock appearing.

(h) Minimum frame height of chassis measured on the side rail will be 5”. Skirt and front nose minimum height 4”. Rear deck height maximum 36 1/2”. Track width 78” maximum, measured from outside to outside of tire sidewall measured at spindle height with tires inflated to 30 psi. All measurements without driver in the car.

(i) Body height will be a minimum of 47”, measured 10” behind top of windshield on roof centre line which must be a minimum of 13 1/2” higher than rear deck height.

(j) Crush panels minimum of 40 thou. Aluminum may be used to separate the body panels and windshield from the interior.

(k) Rear spoiler 5” x 60” maximum. No side pods or bracing in front of spoiler.

(l) Hood must resemble stock in appearance. Only original manufactured hood scoops allowed. Exterior hood hinges allowed. Hood must have 3 front hood pins. If hood is removable, it must have 3 front and 2 rear hood pins. Maximum 3” x 18” opening at rear of hood allowed.

(m) Door must conform to original shape and be mounted securely, using bolts, rivets and/or welding. No sheet metal screws. Windows and windshields see (b) and (o).

(n) Bumpers must be the original type and be securely fastened, with all bracing and/or reinforcing concealed behind the bumper cover. Bumpers must be a minimum of 14” and a maximum of 17” from the ground as measured from the centre of the bumper.

(o) Windshield must be LEXAN. Front windshield pillars must be approximate stock width and location. Minimum side window openings 22” in length x 14 1/2” in height. A minimum of 2 front and rear windshield braces is mandatory. Windows must be clear of tint.

(p) No obstruction of the drivers view in or out of the racecar, with the exception of the top 4” of the front windshield for a sponsor decal. No lettering or advertising on rear windows.

(q) All cars must be neatly painted. Numbers assigned by the track must be painted on both sides of the car in the centre of the door panel, and on the roof, in minimum 24” numbers (roof numbers to read from the right side), of a colour offering distinct contrast to the colour of the car. 4” numbers on both headlight caps required. No foil numbers. Block type numbers 6”, white in colour, must be displayed on the right-hand side of the windshield.

(r) Trunk lid must be removable or hinged.

(s) Front and rear bumper covers must match body being run – make and model. (i.e. Monte Carlo with Monte Carlo).

3. CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION
(a) Stock OEM lower control arms must remain in stock mounting position. Left lower or right lower control arm can be altered in length to assure positive or negative camber. Measurement from grease nipple to mounting hole in frame must be within 1 inch of factory specifications at all times. Lower control arms cannot be reversed from side to side. Ball joint
mounts can be modified to allow any stock type ball joint. Bushings can be stock or after markets. Spherical allowed. Steel tubular upper control arms plus slider mounts allowed. Any stock type OEM ball joint may be used. Tubular upper control arms must be aftermarket. No home made uppers are allowed. No hiem ends.

(b) No offset chassis allowed.

(c) Wheelbase will be a minimum of 105”.

(d) Underslung rear section allowed.

(e) All coil springs must be 5” minimum. Any sway bar allowed.

(f) Four load bolts may be added with minimal alterations to frame and suspension.

(g) After market center link allowed. Steel only. May be reinforced. Hiem ends may be substituted for tie rod ends. Aluminum or steel.

(h) Hubs must be drilled for larger wheel studs. Mandatory 5/8”. Wheel stud threads must protrude through nuts.

(i) Cars can use OEM front hub and spindle. No front floaters. After-market hubs and spindles allowed with solid steel pin. No two piece spindles. Steel two piece rotor and hub allowed. Steering arm and ball joint tapers may be modified. No Corvette spindles allowed. No bolt on steering arms allowed.

(j) One shock absorber per wheel. Steel racing shocks only allowed. No air shocks or coil overs. No remote adjustables. Shock absorbers must remain as produced by the manufacturer. Valves may be changed on those built to be disassembled. Shock absorber must be readily available to the public at a cost of not exceeding $200.00 taxes included. All shock absorbers subject to inspection to verify the above. Spec. shock may be determined in 2009.

(k) A collapsible steering column is mandatory. Centre of steering wheel must be heavily padded.

(l) Rear Ends
  1) 3-link rear end set up or Leaf spring only.
  2) Mandatory full floater rear end. May be fully adjustable and mounted on hiem ends.
  3) Steel or aluminum trailing arms only. 30” maximum length. No spring loads or rubber loaded trailing arms allowed.
  4) Full steel spools allowed. Must be full diameter. No light weight allowed. Steel mini spools are allowed.
  5) Gun drilled axles allowed.
  6) Steel or aluminum hubs allowed.
  7) Upper arm must not exceed 30”. Hiem joints and rubber pucks allowed.
  8) Springs must be mounted to the rear end housing.
  9) No coil overs allowed.
  10) No watts link allowed.

(m) OEM Type Front Frame Section
  1) Stock front clip may be used from lower control arm mounts forward. (minimum)
  2) Minimum 2” x 3” x .095” tubing may be used from front stub to rear of car.

Tube Clip Front Frame Section
  1) Tube clips allowed. Camaro measurements only. .095” minimum thickness.

(n) Driveshaft must have 360 degree steel retaining loops 1/4” x 2” minimum positioned at the front and rear of the driveshaft must be within 6” of each U-joint. No chains allowed. No aluminum or carbon fibre driveshafts allowed. Drive shafts must be painted white or fluorescent. The only accessory that may be driven off or attached to the driveline is a rear end cooler.

(o) Racing rims only. Maximum width 8”. No aluminum, magnesium or wide 5 bolt pattern
wheels. Minimum wheel weight is 17 lbs.

(p) Tires – Refer to section #15.

(q) Weight - Minimum weight for all all cars, 3000 lbs.

Weight Ballast – Car weights are 55% maximum left side and 50% maximum rear.

Minimum of 2 (two) 1/2” grade 8 bolt and self locking nuts or drilled and wired to mount all ballast weight. All ballast weight must be mounted safely and securely, no lower than 5” ground clearance. If weight is mounted behind rear end housing, must be no lower than the center of the rear end axel tube. No weight to be rearward of fuel cell. All weight must be labeled with car number and painted white. Added weight must be in block form in no less than five-pound blocks. Cars will be weighed and teched after racing as they come off the racetrack with the driver in car without topping up fuel. No substitutes.

(r) Body and chassis are interchangeable (i.e. Ford body on GM chassis). GM manual transmission allowed with Chrysler and Ford engine. Engine does not have to match body. (i.e. Ford body with Chev motor).

(s) Mechanical or electric rear end coolers allowed. Must be mounted behind rear firewall in a safe manner.

4. ROLL CAGE
(a) Round steel 1 3/4” minimum x .095” roll bars.

(b) Four-point cage compulsory. No offset cages allowed.

(c) Base of uprights must be electric or mig welded to frame of car.

(d) Cage shall be braced to the rear frame kick-ups and diagonally between the rear uprights.

(e) A transfer bar between the rear diagonal and the front frame optional.

(f) A minimum of four horizontal bars must be inside on left side door and three bars inside the right door and a minimum of two vertical upright bars between each horizontal bar. Add 16 (.059) gauge metal minimum between door bars and body skin on driver side only. From top door bar to frame rail solidly welded with 1” inspection hole.

(g) A center overhead bar running fore and aft between transverse members is compulsory.

(h) No pipefittings allowed.

(i) All roll bars in the driver’s area must be properly padded and taped.

(j) Left leg protection must be installed between roll cage and left front frame rail. All welds will be subject to the approval of tech inspectors.

(k) One bar must be mounted horizontally above fuel filler neck on back bar of rear hoop.

5. FIREWALL, FLOOR AND INTERIOR
(a) Interior – all flammable material must be removed.

(b) Front firewall does not have to be original. Passenger side of firewall may be moved as far back as front of roll cage to allow for easy access to driveline. Minimum of 22 gauge steel.

(c) Rear firewall – a metal rear firewall of 22 gauge steel or .045 aluminum must be securely fitted over the rear seat back brace and the top shelf behind the driver’s seat to completely close off the trunk compartment. Firewall behind drivers seat must be .22 gauge steel with minimum10” from top of frame rail.

(d) All sheet metal work must be neat and properly fitted. All holes are to be covered with sheet metal, either welded or riveted.

(e) Floor must be complete and have all holes covered with sheet metal. Step up over transmission tunnel can be maximum height 10” from top of frame rail. Minimum 22 gauge steel.

(f) Passenger side floor can be aluminum. Minimum .045”.

(g) Driver’s cockpit must be steel. Minimum 22 gauge and 10” from top of frame rail.

6. SEAT
(a) Aluminum racing seats only. Headrest mandatory. Headrest sides recommended.

(b) Seat must be bolted to the roll cage assembly.

(c) No bolting of the seat to the car floor.

(d) Use minimum 3/8” grade 8 bolts with large washers to hold racing seat to seat framework. Minimum of two (2) bolts on the seat back and minimum of two (2) bolts on the seat bottom.

(e) Seat must be positioned to the left of the centerline of the car.

7. SAFETY BELT AND HARNESS
(a) A quick release belt of not less than 3” in width and a 3” shoulder harness is compulsory. Belts must be securely fastened to the frame and/or roll cage with grade bolts of a minimum diameter of 3/8”. Crotch V-belt recommended. No inertia or reel-roll type seat belts permitted. Seat belts must be dated within the last three years.

8. FUEL CELL AND FUEL SYSTEM
(a) Fuel cell is mandatory.

(b) Fuel cell must be mounted between the frame rails (no notching of the rails allowed) and the bottom must be mounted no lower than the bottom of the rear axle tube. Fuel cell must be secured with steel straps made of 1” x 1/8”, not less than two lengthwise and two crosswise, full 360 degrees.

(c) Fuel cell must have left and right side and rear hoop protection bars, min. 1 3/4” x .095” tubing, no lower than 2” below bottom of rear axle tubes.

(d) Fuel cell must have a one-way check valve in the vent line.

(e) No vented gas caps permitted. Gas cap must have an appropriate attaching line to prevent its loss.

(f) Neoprene or steel gas line must be securely fastened under the floor. No copper lines permitted.

(g) Metal fuel filters only.

(h) Ground strap attached to filler neck to chassis is mandatory.

9. TRANSMISSIONS
(a) Any manual stock OEM transmission that bolts up to stock engine without alteration. All gears must be operational.

(b) All cars must use standard transmissions. No automatics allowed.

10. CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL AND BELL HOUSING
(a) Stock steel OEM clutch and flywheel units must not be drilled or machined. Must be as as factory issued with no modification whatsoever. Only nodular-iron or steel flywheels allowed, minimum weight 14lbs. Must have an NHRA steel bell housing. Sema 6-1 flywheel shield or scatter shield of 1/4” steel. Must be mounted over the clutch and flywheel 360 degrees between the bell housing and the floor. No scatter shield inside the car permitted. Full diameter solid disk clutch allowed.

(b) At your own option, bell housing should have an inspection plate for easy inspection of clutch. If there is no inspection plate on the bell housing, you may be required to remove the transmission for clutch inspection.

(c) Pressure plate must be a minimum of 11 lbs & 10 1/2” in diameter.

11. BRAKES
(a) Four-wheel hydraulic brakes are required.

(b) No brake recirculators allowed.

(c) Factory front disc brakes allowed. Rear drum or disc brakes allowed.

(d) Location of pedals and cylinders optional. Two master cylinders and balance bar (optional).

(e) Proportioning valve allowed.

(f) Steel single piston calipers only. May be aftermarket. Minimum 3/4” steel rotors only. (Magnet must stick). No cross drilled aftermarket rotors allowed. Stock OEM replacement drilled rotors allowed.

12. RADIATORS
(a) Must be in stock location.

(b) A one-gallon metal overflow can, must be securely mounted under the hood, in front of the firewall.

(c) Anti-freeze NOT allowed. Three weeks suspension if found.

(d) No oil exchange type radiators allowed.

13. SAFETY
(a) Fire Control – Cars must have a current year approved fire extinguisher mounted in an
approved mounting bracket bolted down and within driver’s reach with seat belt fastened.

(b) Driver’s Helmet – an approved racing type safety helmet must be worn at all times during races, practices and until the car is parked in the pits. Helmets must be 1995 Snell approved or newer. Snell 2000 SA or newer is highly recommended.

(c) Driver’s Fire Suit – SFI rated drivers fire suit is mandatory. No coveralls. Driver and suit must maintain clean looking appearance. Fireproof gloves, neck collar, balaclava, underwear, socks and shoes are recommended.

(d) Driver’s Window Net – Drivers rib-type window net made of nylon material is mandatory. Must have top release and minimum 3/8” rod.

(e) Radios allowed for one driver and two crew members only per team.

14. ENGINES AND DRIVELINES
1) Engine Location – Front most spark plug must be centred ahead of upper ball joint centreline and centred in the frame.

2) Engine Height – Centre line of crankshaft must be 11” min. above ground plane.

3) Engine make does not have to match body.

Engine Options
Option 1 - Crate Engine
General Motors Part # 88958602
These engines must retain factory sealed bolts or Barrie Speedway sealed bolts. Engines must be purchased through Barrie
Speedway or from a Barrie Speedway authorized distributor. Used engines may be purchased provided they originated from the above sources.

All components provided with the new engine must be used without modification. No aluminum G.M. water pumps. Aluminum pulleys allowed.

Option 2 - Built Engine
a) V-8 engines only. Engines must use stock bore and stroke combinations to obtain displacement.

(b) Maximum Displacement
GM: 350 cubic inch,  Ford: 351 cubic inch, Chrysler: 360 cubic inch. Maximum overbore .060”.

(c) Camshaft – Hydraulic flat tappets cams only. Offset camshaft key allowed. Must be stock lifter bore for the model used. No sleeves except Chrysler. No belt drive systems. No multiple gear drive systems. No roller lifters.

(d) Cylinder Heads
  1) Stock O.E.M. cast iron. G.M. straight plug only – no angle plugs. G.M. World Products part # 043600 A or B casting # 1-052 allowed. “ Ford World Products part #053030 Intake valves 1.94”max. exhaust valves 1.60”max. Combustion chamber volume 58c.c. min. Note – may require reverse dome pistons to maintain 9.6:1 compression ratio. No other after-market cylinder heads allowed.

  2) No porting, polishing and/or relieving under valves.

  3) No angle milling.

  4) No special lightened valves. No titanium valves. Retainers must be steel.

  5) G.M. No “Bow tie” heads. No Vortec heads. No double hump casting numbers. No cast number 292.

  6) Chrysler – No W2 heads

  10) Rockers must be stock for the engine used.

  11) Screw in studs and guide plates allowed.

  12) Maximum compression ratio 9.6:1 all manufacturers. ( This rule does not override any other written
specifications.)

  13) 360 c.i.d. Chryslers - pistons must be .020” down the hole. 340 c.i.d Chryslers , 0 deck height.

  14) Minimum head gasket thickness .038”

(e) No dry sumps. Oil pans must have minimum 1 Ό” inspection hole
accessible to view crankshaft casting numbers.

(f) No aluminum G.M. water pumps. Aluminum Ford and Chrysler water pumps allowed. Aluminum pulleys allowed.

(g) G.M. 6” connecting rods allowed.

(h) Cast or forged steel crankshafts allowed.

(i) Stock OEM steel elastomer type harmonic balancers only. No aluminum or fluid types.

(j) Pistons – any flat top or reverse dome allowed.

(k) No Aluminum blocks, connecting rods.

(l) Intake Manifold
- Ford and Chrysler must be stock OEM cast iron 2 barrel only.
- G.M. Edelbrock Performer – 2101 second design only.
- No porting or polishing allowed. Maximum diameter of venturi holes in adapter plate 1.755”

(m) Exhaust (Applies to both built and crate engines) - Spec header allowed. Schoenfeld 1 5/8" primary with 3" collector. Must be purchased from Bayside Automotive. Part #135, 135H or 145 (Chev.), Part #445 (Dodge) and Part #335 (Ford). Header wrap allowed but may have to be removed for technical inspection. Exhaust pipes must be steel tubing maximum 3" outside diameter. Must extend past driver's seat and dump downward in front of rear axle. Must have minimum of 45 degree turndown. One "H" pipe only max. 3" O.D. No merge or X pipes allowed. Mufflers are optional, if used two max. 3" O.D. pipes may exit the passenger side of the car cut flush to the body. Must exit a maximum of 17" ahead of the right rear tire.

(n) Fuel Pump – Stock mechanical pump only.

(o) Carburetor – One, two-barrel, Holley 500 CFM #4412 carburetor. The only changes allowed are jets, power valve squirters and removal of choke parts. A maximum 1 1/4” adapter plate, including gaskets, between the manifold and carburetor is allowed.

  1) Two throttle return springs running into different directions are mandatory. Throttle stops mandatory. Accelerator toe bar recommended.

  2) The carburetor shall remain stock as produced with the exception of choke mechanism and external choke housing may be removed.

  3) Cars must have air cleaners to act as a flame arrestor (max. 4” x 15”). Must fit under the hood. A cold air box is permitted. No Ram tubes or ducting allowed. A maximum 3” x 18” opening at rear of hood allowed.

(p) Distributor and Ignition
  1) Battery operated ignitions only.

  2) Car must be self-starting and Ignition “OFF” switch must be mounted near the centreline of the car and clearly labeled “Ignition Off” in such a manner that the engine can be turned off from either side of the car in the event of an emergency.

  3) Stock single-point distributor and stock type coil allowed. No dual points.

  4) OEM electronic ignition may be used and require stock type ignition modules. (No Mallory or MSD type systems allowed.)

  5) Vacuum advances may be removed.

(q) Starter must be in stock position and functional.

(r) Battery must be anchored securely and separated from driver’s compartment by a firewall. One 12 volt battery only. Battery disconnect switch is mandatory. Must be accessible to safety crew.

(s) Instruments – Oil pressure and heat gauges mandatory.

15. TIRES
* Hoosier 8” slick, numbered tires purchased from Barrie Speedway*
- Six tires are allowed to be purchased before start of season.
- One tire/week can be bought on or and after the third week of racing.
- If four tires only are purchased before season, one tire/week can be bought from the first week on.
- Tire management and strategy is up to each individual team.
- New tires do not have to be used on the night purchased.
- Used tires may be sold to other teams only after 2/32 are wore off tread indicators. Numbers off tire must be transferred to new car number. Change must be approved by tech official. Derometer readings will be taken prior to approval.
- If a brand new tire gets cut, tire may be replaced if approved by tech official.
- Car must participate in night’s race in order to qualify for tire purchase the following week.
- In case of rain out, if a tire is purchased and the feature does not run, the tire bought is your new tire for the next race.

*Anyone found using a tire not assigned to their car, will forfeit all money earned that night and all points earned up until that point of the season.

*AT ANY RACE MEET, no car shall go on the track without tires registered to that car by Barrie Speedway.

FINAL NOTE
