for 2010The following announcements for the 2010 season were made at the Barrie Speedway banquet that took place on October 31st. Barrie Speedway to Sponsor All Cars For 2010 Season!The owners/management of Barrie Speedway are pleased to announce that the track will be sponsoring all cars that race at Barrie Speedway in 2010. We know that the economy is not the best right now, but our goal is to attract the best cars, the best drivers and the most cars and drivers. So, we are willing to sponsor the best cars and the best drivers in 2010. Barrie Speedway will be paying for every drivers NASCAR License in 2010. Any driver that gets a NASCAR license and runs all season at Barrie Speedway (except for any two nights) will get a cheque on championship night for the cost of their NASCAR license. In addition, for every driver that gets a NASCAR license by February1st, we will be giving those drivers another $100! So get your NASCAR license by February 1st, 2010 and we’ll give you a sponsor package worth $100. It will be made up of tickets to the speedway for your sponsors and a cash Gift card that you can use for tickets to Barrie Colts games, dinner at HorsePower Sports Bar & Grill, tickets to the speedway or golf at Tangle Creek. That’s a total sponsorship package worth over $200 to every Pure Stock and Thunder Car Driver and worth over $300 for every Limited Late Model driver! Our goal is to make 2010 the best season ever at Barrie Speedway. As soon as 2010 NASCAR Licenses are available, we will have that information on this site. Licenses can be renewed by mail for current NASCAR Members. New members will be able to pick up applications at our office at the BMC or online once available. NASCAR has also developed a new beginners license for 2010. Drivers 14 to 16 years old will be able to obtain a NASCAR license to run in our Pure Stock Class. These licenses will also be available. Rule ChangesPure Stock16 Valve cars will be allowed in the Pure Stock class. There will be weight penalty, similar to other tracks, the details of which will be released shortly. Thunder CarsThe weight for Thunder Cars will drop to 3100 lbs. This move is to reduce fuel and tire costs. There are no other rule changes for 2010. For the 2011 season, aluminum intakes will be allowed. Limited Late ModelsThere are no rule changes for 2010. Thunder Car Series Between Barrie Speedway and Kawartha SpeedwayThere will be a four race series (2 at Barrie and 2 at Kawartha) for the Thunder Car class in 2010. The series will have it’s own points system and will award prize money/trophies based on that point system. Details will be announced early in the new year. |
